Perhaps Magic Johnson will be joining the National Commission on AIDS. We would certainly recommend that he read their report. It serves as an indictment of President George Bush, Congress and the Centers for Disease Control.
For me, there is a bitter irony in the fact that the very issues this National Commission report raises are the same ones we are dealing with, and yet Magic Johnson's announcement about his HIV positive status gets volumes more attention than the report of federal government actions that affect HIV prevention.
National Task Force believes it's time the people whose lives are being affected by callous indifference and malignant neglect let elected representatives and government agencies know their concerns in no uncertain terms.
